MASTER TUNG

Master Tung Ching-Chang was a renowned acupuncturist who lived in Taiwan during the 20th century. This style of acupuncture believed to have been developed by Tung’s ancestors traced back to the Han Dynasty.

Master Tung was born in 1916 in the province of Shandong, China, and began his study of acupuncture at a young age. He went on to study with many well-respected acupuncturists in China and Taiwan, including his own father, who was also a master of acupuncture.

Master Tung's legacy as a skilled acupuncturist goes beyond the development of his unique style of acupuncture. He was also known for his remarkable ability to diagnose and treat complex medical conditions, often achieving remarkable results where other treatments had failed.

One notable example of Master Tung's expertise occurred in 1962, when he was called upon to treat the president of Cambodia, Prince Norodom Sihanouk. The prince had been suffering from a serious respiratory condition that had not responded to conventional medical treatments. Master Tung was able to diagnose the prince's condition and administer acupuncture treatment, which resulted in a dramatic improvement in his condition. The prince was so impressed with Master Tung's treatment that he appointed him as the royal physician, and Master Tung went on to treat other members of the royal family as well.

Tung's acupuncture was originally passed down exclusively within the family until the first disciple was excepted in 1964.  There were 73 (74 according to Dr. Carson) disciples who were studied from Master Tung and thanks to them his teachings have been passed down through generations of practitioners.
